A former contestant on ABC's The Bachelor TV reality show is dead at the age of 29 of an apparent suicide. Gia Allemand who was seen on Season 14 of The Bachelor was the second runner up during that episode that featured bachelor star Jake Pavelka.

According to ABC news "While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt," her family said in a statement.

Allemand was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans and put on life support, according to the statement.

."Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today," the statement continued. "Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."

Allemand who was a Maxim model, was best known for appearing on  "The Bachelor" and was a fan favorite who later appeared on "Bachelor Pad" in 2010. She was one of my favorites on that show a very sweet girl with a huge heart and beautiful smile.  It's sad just very sad to hear the news.

Fans are shocked and still mourning the loss of Gia as well as former Bachelor contestants. Jake Pavelka, the "Bachelor" from Allemand's season tweeted after he found out about her death.

"I had to pull over, I can't stop crying. We have lost an angel," he said.

Sean Lowe, "The Bachelor" from season 17, was focused on Allemand's family.

"My prayers go out to @GiaAllemand 's family during this time," he said. "Life on earth is but a vapor and she's with our Lord now."
