The Band Perry's new song comes with a strong message.

The siblings are back! Kimberly, Neil and Reid of The Band Perry made a return to the spotlight on Monday, August 1 with a song called "Comeback Kid." According to Rolling Stone, the song is not just a comeback to the music industry, but a chance for them to tell their own story, their own way.

This comes after the world of country music had essentially turned their backs on the trio.

The last time we saw The Band Perry, they had just released a song called "Live Forever." It was immediately rejected by many fans because it felt too much like a pop song. Soon after, they cut ties with their record label which all but sent their fans into a spin.

Had The Band Perry gone pop?

Now, with the song Comeback Kid, they are setting the record straight. Kimberly says the record is incredibly personal and allows them to tell the truth about their story.

"...it was really important to us with 'Comeback Kid' that we told the real-life narrative of everything we've been thinking and feeling over the past year. It's no secret to anybody that we've undergone an amazing transformation, and it ended in such a bright, beautiful place, but it had its moments along the way of real and true struggle."

They also made it clear that their priority will always be country. Despite having songs cross over into the pop world, The Band Perry wants to focus on their bread and butter. However, if you get some love from another genre is it really all that bad?

We'll just call it "audience extension."
