Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 17, 2017 as the Four States Auto Museum welcomes the annual Bandit Run to downtown Texarkana.

This event was started to commemorate the 1977 movie Smokey and The Bandit which starred Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Jerry Reed. Texarkana was the town featured in the movie where the bandit played by Burt Reynolds and the Snowman played by the late Jerry Reed was to picked up a load of beer and drive it across county lines to a wealth tycoon and his son. The late Jackie Gleason played Buford T. Justice as a no holes barred sheriff who was in hot pursuit of the Bandit.

The Bandit Run features a entourage of Trans Am cars or runners as they like to be called along with the famous Snowman semi-truck that goes on an annual pilgrimage across the states featured in the movie. The convoy will be in Texarkana at the Four States Auto Museum 217 Laurel St., and then it's off to Georgia according to their website, The Bandit Run  The event runs from 10AM until 3PM and everyone is invited to come out for live music from the Pines Country Club Reunion Band and BBQ which will be available to purchase.

For more information on The Bandit Run visit their Facebook page.

The Bandit Run is an annual event that began with Dave Hall of Restore a Muscle Car and David Hershey in 2007. The goal of course is to get classic muscle cars out on the street and you don't necessarily have to have a Trans Am to participate in this run.

By the way this year marks the 40th Anniversary of Smokey and The Bandit.
