As most of you know by now, country star Chase Rice is throwing a party downtown
Saturday night at Railfest 2015. Opening up for Rice will be Texarkana local favorite "The Dusty Rose Band."Lead singer Jason Springer, who has really become a good friend of mine, said the band has been working hard on some new material and some good old fashioned party tunes that are guaranteed to get the crowd worked up into a frenzy. Springer said "Texarkana better be ready to throw-down cause it's going to be party."

Springer, whose band formed in 2005, has been playing clubs, festivals, bike rallies, weddings, and various charitable events for years and he is excited to see his band finally starting to branch out and play other venues around the Four States area. Most recently, they have been spending a lot of time playing in Shreveport-Bossier. Through the years, The Dusty Rose Band has picked up numerous diehard fans who will usually follow them wherever they play, Springer says.

"It's the fans that make this whole thing worthwhile," he adds.

I guess the thing that most impresses me about him is his dedication to charities like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital -- a cause that's also close to my heart. When he gets behind something he believes in, he and the band fully support the cause. I recently asked Springer to write a song about St. Jude's kids to play on my show during our "Country Cares Radiothon" back in early March. He didn't hesitate, writing a song in just a few days. He even got a little emotional when he performed it on the radio.

Not only is he a good singer. He's a good guy, too.

When you come to a Dusty Rose Band show be prepared to have a terrific time because you will be entertained. Springer is not going to just stand there on the stage and sing. He'll jump out into the crowd, on a table, or wherever he can to make you feel a part of the show. His band will mix it up this Saturday and play everything from classic rock to southern rock to country and even some R&B and pop. Springer is heavily influenced by

Jason Aldean, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stoney Larue, B.B. King and George Strait to name a few. His band is very versatile and has an extensive music library so if need be, they could go for hours and believe me, they have!

In fact, if you want to meet The Dusty Rose Band some of them will be hanging out with me during our Cavender's Boot City live broadcast this Friday, May 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is going to be your last chance to buy tickets to see Chase Rice for just $20 and I'll be giving some lucky Kicker listeners a chance to win tickets and backstage passes to meet Chase Rice.

Who knows, I may even talk Jason and the band into playing a couple songs in the store.
