The Future of Albert Pike, Officials Want Your Opinion on ‘Day Use Only’ Proposal
None of us will ever forget the lives that were lost in the tragic flooding at Albert Pike back in June of 2010. U.S. Forest Service closed the campground for overnight use. According to KTHV- TV in Little Rock, officials are now proposing to make that a permanent policy and keep it open for day use only.
Gloria Chrismer, District Ranger for the Caddo-Womble Ranger District, states in the proposal:
“I invite the public to participate in this project. Until a final decision is made, the Proposed Action is just that—a proposal,” “Comments submitted will help forest managers identify additional issues, and these will be used to formulate alternatives to this proposal.”
