The Texarkana Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State has served our community and those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias since 1989. Their services include respite care at Our Place, resources and education for families in a 22 county service area across the ARK-LA-TX and various caregiver support groups.

It was announced yesterday (September 7, 2016) that the Alzheimer’s Alliance expanded the respite care services to three days per week, allowing friends to visit on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. This expansion gives caregivers another day in which they can use the services to take better care of themselves, which in turn allows them to give better care to their loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

Texarkana Alzheimer’s Alliance's signature event, the Twice as Fine Texarkana Wine Festival, has helped raise dollars to support those families that desperately need their services as well as a being one of the premier community events for the Texarkana region.

Recently, there has been some confusion in our community, as another Alzheimer’s organization has been promoting their fundraiser locally. The Texarkana Alzheimer's Alliance would like to note that they are not linked with the Alzheimer’s Association or their fundraiser, Walk to End Alzheimer’s. While they acknowledge the importance of research and its impact on the Alzheimer’s community, they would like to differentiate their organization from that of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a National Organization whose Arkansas Chapter, based out of Bentonville/Little Rock, is hosting this event. While both fight hard to provide desperately needed services for our communities, the Texarkana Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State Area is your local resource for education, support and respite care.  If you want your donations to benefit research and the Alzheimer’s Association’s reach across America, donate there. But, if you would like your donations to stay local to help your neighbor, a member of your church or a fellow community member, donate to your local organization, Texarkana’s own Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State Area.

Be sure to visit Texarkana Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State Facebook page, stop by their offices at 100 Memory Lane in Texarkana, Texas or call them at for more information (903) 223-8021.
