Skeptical if your uncle really has a food allergy? Here are four signs they really don't have a food allergy... they're just being rude.

Thanksgiving is all about an abundance of things to be thankful for... and food. Tons of food. Some good, some not so good. And yes, there will be family and friends who will use the "allergy" excuse to pass on your offering.

It happens.

And it hurts. You spent hours trying this new recipe you found on Pinterest and you just want someone to tell you how wonderful it is. So, do they really have an allergy? Or are they just lying?

Here are the ways you can tell if it's not really an allergy, according to Prevention.com.

1. Upset stomach. If their only symptom is tummy trouble, then it's probably not an allergy. Symptoms of an allergy are things like hives, difficulty breathing and trouble swallowing. Upset stomach is most likely an intolerance of the food.

2. No immediate symptoms. Intolerance or sensitivity to food can take a while to upset someone's stomach. However, an allergy will be an immediate reaction that happens within minutes, at the most.

3. No consistency. Allergies don'e ebb and flow. If it's a real allergy, they will react the same way every single time.

4. Small doses. If the person can eat tiny bits of the food without showing symptoms then they are probably just intolerant. Allergies will cause a reaction even in little doses. It also won't matter if it's raw or cooked.

So, the next time someone says they're allergic, just ask some simple questions. Then ask if they want seconds.
