Three Texarkana residents have filed paperwork showing their interest in filling a vacant seat on the Texas side City Council.

The Texarkana Texas City Council will meet in closed session at the regular scheduled meeting next Monday to discuss filling a vacancy created when city council member Tina Veal- Gooch resigned from her position. Veal-Gooch represented Ward 3 since 2009 and resigned on December 12..

Applications for residents in Ward 3 that were interested in filling the vacant position were accepted by City Secretary Jennifer Evans until 5:00PM Tuesday.
Three applications were received from qualified residents: Jason Montoya, Johnny Riley, and Betty Williams.
 
If the council decides to appoint one of the three applicants during the council meeting Monday night, the individual will be sworn in and take office during the meeting.
