As Season 11 of The Voice wraps, Sundance Head has more than earned a place in the country music conversation. The soulful Texan auditioned with an Otis Redding classic before performing a wide variety of material through the Battle Rounds and final weeks.

The Judds, Tom T. Hall, Keith Urban and Maren Morris are just a few of the singers Head selected songs from during his time on The Voice. The NBC reality show shared his emotional story and backstory, and put a spotlight on his family. His father, Roy Head, was a hitmaker in the 1960s, and during the final performance episode, the younger Head did him proud with "Treat Her Right."

That performance, as well as one other from his final week, don't make this 5 Best Sundance Head Performances from The Voice list. A cover of one of the judges' country hits certainly does, but don't start searching for Blake Shelton songs. Head always took his selections to a soulful place, so naturally songs that started in that world were easy and brilliant choices. We simply loved his Etta James cover.

Take a look at our choices for the best Sundance Head songs. Missing is his version of "Blue Ain't Your Color" and "My Church" and a few others. On Dec. 13 Head won Season 11 of The Voice, topping Billy Gilman, Josh Gallagher and We McDonald.

    "No One"

    Alicia Keys

Head chose this song during Top 11 week in November and showed a softer side on a well-known R&B hit for Keys. His twist on the song included acoustic guitar, fiddle and a chorus of gospel singers behind him. Vocally he was at his most Zac Brown-esque during this song.

    "At Last"

    Etta James

The finalist's take on Etta James' "At Last" includes doo-wop singers and a slow, patient vocal performance. This love song didn't test him emotionally like some others he chose, but it was a beautiful vocal performance over a country-pop arrangement.

    "The Climb"

    Miley Cyrus

Head could have taken credit for writing "The Climb" after a moving performance during the Knockout Round. It was a personal performance that showed his range and conviction, as well as some gravel in his smooth soul voice. At the end he really tests his vocal range and passes with an A+.

"I've Been Loving You Too Long"

    Otis Redding

The Blind Auditions first introduced fans to Sundance Head. He started slow and soft — a thick voice reminding viewers of Chris Stapleton, if his long beard didn't already. Adam Levine turned first, and Blake Shelton would follow before the end of the chorus. Head would go on to choose Shelton, and together they'd reach the finals.

    "Me and Jesus"

    Tom T. Hall

Head's country revival during Top 10 week featured a song not familiar to many watching, which meant he was banking on his performance to send him through. Again the singer picked a song that feels like one ripped through his diary. Producers added stained glass windows and an alter for him to preach from. A handful of backing singers help as he brings it home at the end. It becomes a spiritual moment for coaches, fans and viewers at home. His version of the song would reach No. 1 on iTunes in the Christian category.
