Here on Today's New Country, Kicker 102.5, we play a lot of new artists and their version of country music. But recently we lost a country music legend in Merle Haggard. His music has been such an inspiration for so many country artists over the decades -- some you've heard of, hundreds, maybe thousands you'll never hear about, but they're there nonetheless.

One that I'm sure you've heard of even though he hasn't had a hit song on the radio in a while is Vince Gill. The guitar pickin' country singer from Oklahoma had a string of hits and awards a mile long back in the 90s and early 2000s. Gill was also one of the best awards show hosts I've ever seen and couldn't be a nicer guy.

His most recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry included this amazing tribute to Merle Haggard and is definitely worth a few minutes of your time.

Here he is, Vince Gill along with steel player Paul Franklin performing "A World Without Haggard.
