Ever heard a song that sounds like another? There may be something to that.

There are plenty of songs out there that sound similar. It could be plagiarism, it could be a coincidence. My mother has a theory that everything is cyclical. This was most prevalent when school shopping. When I was a kid, it was all about bell bottoms (we called them fit and flares). This style of pants was obviously something my mother wore as a kid too.

That being said, the musical comedy group The Axis of Awesome has successfully demonstrated the four-chord theory.

The theory is that every hit songs is based off the same four chords. They begin by playing "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Then they move into just about every popular song you've heard in your time on this earth.

It's pretty crazy and honestly, it kind of makes you feel like we've all been duped in the music world. We've given praise to so many who have just been a knockoff of another who came before them.
