Watch a Movie Outdoors at Spring Lake Park [SURVEY]

Movies in the Park continues at Spring Lake Park Thursday, May 24, presented by the City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation.Make sure to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to watch the great family movie "Puss in Boots" under the stars beginning at 8 p.m. I have to admit this, I've done this before and it makes for a great family outing, and sort of reminds me of  the old drive-in days. There is something about the ambiance  of being outside watching a movie that brings up some great childhood memories. Remember the 67 Drive-In? It was next to Razorback Stadium. Or how about the Joy Drive-In out in Nash, Texas?

You never had to dress up. You just went as you were since you were going to be viewing the movie from your car. I recall the speakers you attached to your car window, of course that was all before surround sound. If you wanted some popcorn and a hot dog, you just walked to the concession stand located on the lot. Back in those days they had the old double-feature movie, two movies for the price of one.

Back then their were NO cell phones so actually everyone watched the movie with the occasional fogged-up window, but that's a whole different story. Best of all, you could load up as many people in your car and get everyone in for one price. But, if I remember correctly, that eventually changed with the times.
