If your a pet owner chances are you've heard someone tell you that  you resemble your dog or you both look alike. You can debate that all you want but there is a new study that finds that the type of dog someone chooses may say a lot about his or her personality.

For example our family dog 'Elviz' is a very affectionate dog and like s lots of attention. My wife says "that sounds like you." I say when he begs and barks "I Love You" it  sounds like her. I'm sure she will disagree but she tells me I growl all the time like the dog. I'm not going to say anything because I could find myself in the doghouse literally, with the dog.

Study co-author Dr. Lance Workman says “I think when you look for a dog at some level, largely subconsciously, you look for something that is a bit like you.”

Workman and a colleague surveyed 1,000 dog owners to test the so-called “Big Five” traits that govern our personalities: extroversion, agreeableness, emotional stability, conscientiousness and intelligence.

Here are some of their findings.
