The 2nd annual Hope Junior Auxiliary Glow Tournament is coming up on April 21, 2012. Although golf is an ancient sport that originated in 15th century Scotland, and folks have played tournaments to raise money for years, this event puts a modern twist on this popular game.

How much does it cost to play?

For a $35 per person entry fee, golf enthusiasts will play in a 4-person scramble night golf game that is sure to be a lot of fun. Just think, those sand traps will be even more challenging with the stars out!

When should I register?

Be sure to register soon, the cutoff date is Wednesday, April 11. Registration forms can be picked up at the Hope Country Club.

“For the $35 fee, participants get dinner, a goody bag filled with merchandise from local businesses, a t-shirt and two glow-in-the-dark balls,” said Casey Green, one of the event organizers.

Do I need to be on a team?

Players can make up their own teams or be added to one that doesn’t have enough players. Only 25 teams will play during this tournament.

What time should I get there?

Registration and a golfers’ dinner of fish and chicken with all the trimmings begins at 6:30 p.m. The game starts at 8 p.m. So come early and bring a healthy appetite!

How is the money spent?

All the proceeds from this event benefit children of Hempstead County and the surrounding area through the projects of the Junior Auxiliary. “The money from this event helps us pay for things like Christmas for kids, cookies with Santa, school supplies, photo IDs and more,” Green said. “With that money we’re also able to give scholarships to high school seniors in the fall and help with welfare projects year round, such as buying clothes for a family if their house burns down or paying someone’s gas bill if it is about to be cut off.”

So come putt-putt with these glowing balls, and raise money for a good cause. that make it possible to play a tournament after dark. The event will be held at the Hope Country Club located at 3605 Patmos Road, Hope, Ark. 71801.
