White House Gutted – In 1950 [PHOTOS]

DID YOU KNOW... that in 1950 the White House, yes that White House, was in such bad shape that it had to be gutted and completely rebuilt from the inside out?

Well it's true, I just recently found this article from written by Brian Resnick in the  NationalReview.com showing these archived pictures and telling the story of how the interior of the White House was literally falling apart.

The 1948 White House Christmas celebration had to be canceled because it was simply too dangerous. A commission on the matter was recommending a relocation and new mansion be built but President Truman wanted the restoration of the original and won the approval of congress.
