Which Texarkana high school football team has the best shot to win this year's Kicker Cup City Championship?

The traveling trophy is awarded each year to the Texarkana high school football team that finishes the regular season with the best overall record. The current holder of the Kicker Cup Trophy is Barry Norton's Texas High Tigers.

The Kicker Cup started in 1996, when the radio station decided to get involved in high school football in the area and came up with the idea for the traveling trophy and the city championship designation. The Tigers won it that first year and have, by far, owned the trophy the most over time.

With two weeks to go in the high school football regular season, the Liberty-Eylau Leopards are in front in the Kicker Cup Standings. L-E is 7-1, with defending champion Texas High at 6-2. Pleasant Grove is still in the hunt with a 5-3 record. Arkansas High has been eliminated from the trophy chase for this year.

Whichever team wins the Kicker Cup, we will take it to to their campus and present the trophy to them at their first playoff pep rally. Good luck to all involved.

The Kicker Cup is presented by Townsquare Media Texarkana and is sponsored by Red River Credit Union.
