Remember the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? I can recall my mom taking me and my brother to see this movie back in 1971 at the Paramount Theater in Downtown Texarkana. The theater is now of course, the historic Perot. I also remember them selling Wonka Bars at the theater and stores around town when the movie came out. A newer modern version was released back in 2005 and starred Johnny Depp. Well, now the 1964 children's novel is coming to life in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Recently, I had a chance to visit with some cast members who have been cast in the adaptation of 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory' to be presented by Face to Faith Productions at First United Methodist Church, Cabe Center at 6th & Laurel- April, 12-14th. This musical play directed by Missy Lyda, will feature 71 cast members from around the Texarkana area including Chip McAfee-Grandpa Jones, Alec Rommel-Charlie, and Ruth Arnold as Willy Wonka. I think this might be the first time that a female has played the main character role. Oh, I do have to give props to my stepdaughter Adrianna who has been cast as one of the geese.
