There is a Swiss company called Algordanza that can take human remains and turn them into dazzling gemstones.

They take cremated human remains and get the carbon out of the ashes. The carbon is heated to create graphite. The graphite is heated to almost 3000 degrees and compressed with almost 870,000 pounds of pressure per square inch. The results are a beautiful gem that can be kept as a separate stone or put in jewelry to be worn by loved ones, or lost in  a storm drain...???

At a cost of about $4,500, not including cremation it's not much more expensive than a traditional funeral.
