Thanksgiving is just around the corner and whether you are traveling 100 miles or 3 miles, you need to be aware that Arkansas law enforcement will be watching you. The Arkansas State Police, along with local law enforcement, want to remind you to buckle up.

This big Click It or Ticket campaign will run Monday, November 24, through Sunday, November 30. Officers across the state will be increasing their patrols to help keep holiday travel safe.

Why Buckling Up in Arkansas Matters

Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday to travel of the year. Sadly, it is also one of the most dangerous holidays to travel. During the 2023 holiday period, 309 people were killed in passenger vehicle crashes across the U.S., and nearly half of those people (135 to be exact) were not wearing a seat belt.

The evenings are especially dangerous, with almost half of the unrestrained fatalities happening after dark.
These are heartbreaks that could have been prevented with a simple click.

Arkansas Law Enforcement Will Pull You Over if You Aren't Wearing Your Seatbelt

Arkansas Public Safety Secretary Colonel Mike Hagar reminds drivers in a press release,

Buckle your seat belt to stay safe and follow the law. If officers see you riding without a seat belt, we will pull you over and issue a ticket. That seat belt may mean the difference between life and death.

Arkansas Seat Belt Laws

Arkansas law requires all drivers and front-seat passengers to wear a seat belt at all times. Violations can result in fines up to $45. Children under 15 must be properly secured in a seat belt or car seat, whether they are in the front or back, with fines up to $100 for violations.
