Brad Paisley has a new non-musical project on his calendar: The country singer will star in a brand-new Amazon TV comedy, Fish Out of Water.

Executive produced by Paisley and actor and comedian Will Arnett, Fish Out of Water is described by the Hollywood Reporter as "a Larry Sanders take on celebrity vanity projects and a behind-the-scenes look at country star Paisley's struggle to keep a simple little fishing show from turning into his own personal Fyre Festival." The Larry Sanders Show was a long-running HBO television show (1992-1998) about a fictional late-night TV talk show, starring Gary Shandling, Jeffrey Tambor and Rip Torn.

Fish Out of Water's script is being written by AD Miles, who previously worked with Arnett on Arrested Development. Both Miles and Arnett previously worked with Paisley on Season 2 of ABC's The Gong Show reboot. It is Paisley's first role as a series regular, though he's guested on King of the HillNashville and other shows.

Miles is also an executive producer of the show, along with Peter Principato of Artists First; Marc Forman, who co-owns the Electric Avenue production company with Arnett; Paisley's manager Bill Simmons and Kendal Marcy in addition to Arnett and Paisley. The show is from Sony Pictures Television, with which Electric Avenue has a deal.

Fish Out of Water, if it's officially picked up, will be released via Amazon. The global shopping website and streaming platform landed the show following a multiple-outlet bidding war.
