Rumor has it that Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler are working on a duet together.

Mjsbigblog is reporting that an all knowing fan of Aerosmith broke the news that Carrie and Steven have recorded a duet for Aerosmith's new album ‘Music From Another Dimension’ due in stores August 28.

The tune is reportedly a country ballad with potential to cross over to other genres and is a “sure fire smash” according to sources who have heard it.

Aerosmith recorded a country tune written by Marti Fredrickson last summer in Boston.  The songwriter lobbied the band to turn it into a duet with a female country singer, and in the last few days, Carrie  has recorded a duet part for the song.

Of course we've seen them perform together at the ACM Awards last year and they will be the subject of a CMT Crossroads Special this Thursday night that was recorded before the Superbowl in Indianapolis.

Take a look at their performance from the 2011 ACM's. They do a great job of rocking Aerosmith together and Steven has recorded some great rock ballads, so do you think they can pull off a country ballad together?
