One of favorite festivals around this part of the country is the "Hope Watermelon Festival" that takes place in former President Clinton's hometown of Hope, Arkansas this weekend. As a kid growing up my parents would always take me and my brother to the festival to enjoy some ice cold watermelon by the slice, and occasionally we would buy one to enjoy later. I have always been amazed how big those melons could get. I started joking as I got older that they must be giving them steroids.

The one thing I have learned is that the watermelon producers take their business  serious and they take pride on not just producing a big watermelon, but the juiciest as well.  And with the record breaking heatwave we are having, nothing taste as refreshing as biting into a thick slice of cold watermelon.

This year get ready for plenty of  Southwest Arkansas's largest Arts & Crafts, a softball tournament, the watermelon 5k, ride in bike show, antique car show, children's activities, seed spitting contest, great food, and live entertainment Saturday evening from country stars Little Texas (7pm) and the headliner former Dancing with the Stars  Chuck Wicks. (8:30pm) at the Fair Park Coliseum.

Kicker 102.5 will be at this year's "35th Annual Watermelon Festival" so I will be looking for you, and probably will be remembering the good ol' days as a child.
