The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department has several upcoming events planned for the four states area at the Southwest Center located 3222 West 7th Street.

Upcoming Events

Zumba Classes at the Southwest Center every Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in April from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Zumba can be very energizing and uplifting as you let the music free your body with the ultimate fitness dance party. Child care will also be provided during lessons and the classes are free.

Then, beginning on April 6, have you ever wanted to learn how to belly dance? Classes in the art of belly dancing (Middle Eastern Dance) and lyrical jazz dance will be held at the Southwest Center.

  • Monday- Middle Eastern Dance 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday- Lyrical Jazz Dance 6 p.m.

Community Wide Yard Sale and Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, April 25, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spring Lake Park. (If it rains; alternate date May 9) All items are welcome to sell excluding firearms, animals, weapons of any kind and food. Booths are available on a first-come, first serve basis $15 for a 20x20 space. For more information call 903-798-3978.

And finally, on Saturday, May 16, the 19th Annual Veteran's Information Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southwest Center. There will be plenty of information and services available for active military, veterans, reserve duty and their families during this fair. Also, they will be collecting non-perishable food items for Hero's Pantry. This event is being hosted by Texarkana Area Chapter #278, Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc.
