Firehouse Subs outside of restaurant

Today I wanted something outside the norm, and so I headed over to Firehouse Subs, one of the newer sandwich establishments in the area. I'd heard good things about it, but had never tried it until now. I wasn't to be disappointed.

Firehouse Subs arrived in Texarkana nearly two years ago when a franchise of the popular restaurant opened at 3213 Kennedy Lane, just across the street from Central Mall. Since then, the gracious servers there have dished up their signature hot specialty subs, including the Hook & Ladder Sub and the Firehouse "Hero" Sub. The menu also boasts great chili, soups (broccoli cheese or chicken noodle), a chef's salad and desserts like the chocolate brownie or jumbo-sized cookies.

I ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch, a mouth-watering sub packed full of smoked turkey breast, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar, and topped off with a creamy peppercorn ranch dressing that was to die for. Just like Renee Zellweger said in Jerry Maguire, this is one sandwich that "had me at hello." I'll definitely be ordering that one again. Pair it with Miss Vickie's Jalapeno Chips, and you've got a combo matched in heaven.

Technology may have done away with the old soda fountains long ago, but another item that distinguishes this restaurant from the rest is it's Coke machine. Called the Coca-Cola Freestyle, the machine offers more than 120 flavors of sodas, waters, and even the Firehouse Subs Cherry Lime-Aid. You can create your own favorite  specialty beverage, no soda jerk required.

What always sets a good restaurant apart from a great one, however, is the service. At Firehouse, the servers eagerly made my dining experience pleasant to ensure that I'd be a repeat customer. From the moment  I stepped in the door, the staff greeted me with a warm, "Welcome to Firehouse!" The team's enthusiasm definitely set it apart from its competition. They even stopped by and asked if I enjoyed my meal after I finished eating. You don't run into that everyday!

Now, I don't know about you, but dirty restaurants just gross me out. Thank goodness Firehouse Subs is kept very clean and spotless. Even the bathroom is immaculate, and each nook and corner seemed to shine. As the saying goes, "cleanliness is next to godliness" and for me it's also what keeps me coming back time and again. So this added extra points to my review of this establishment.

It's also great to find out what other customers have to say about the place. Although they didn't want to go on record, the patrons I chatted with while I dined there all said they return frequently because they get great food at a fair price. I couldn't agree more. Although it's not the cheapest sandwich shop in town, the eats are reasonably priced and it is likely one of the tastiest and healthiest options available. So pack up the family, go with a friend, or meet your sweetie for a quick lunchtime rendezvous at Firehouse Subs, because they're definitely one of the hottest tickets in town.
