Health Insurance Options for Folks Out of Work
We understand that COVID-19 has affected communities across the country, and the Texarkana region is no different. There are a lot of folks out of work, wondering what they can do about their health insurance. For those who may have lost their jobs and employer-sponsored health plans, CHRISTUS Health Plan has a number of plans available on the Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) at low cost. (Plus, there are availabilities for subsidies if an existing CHRISTUS Health Plan member’s income has changed recently).
Most importantly, people can sign up now – without having to wait for Open Enrollment. Anyone can sign up if they’ve experienced a qualifying life event (QLE) in the last 60 days. Most timely QLEs right now with COVID would be loss of job, reduced income, or loss of employer-sponsored health plan. For what it’s worth, CHRISTUS Health Plan Individual and Family plans are among the lowest priced in all the areas we serve.
The bottom line is that there are a lot of folks who might be worried about the health coverage for themselves and their family, but there are options available through CHRISTUS Health Plan and others out there on the HIX.
