Week #2 of 2023 and Bowie County had more than its share of bad behavior last week. Let's start with 74 total arrests in Bowie County, Sheriff's Deputies arrested 23 of those while 51 were arrested by other area law enforcement agencies and turned over to the BCSO.

Bowie County Sheriff's Deputies had a bit of a down week, last week, at least when it comes to arrests anyway, not that we're complaining. There were 19 people arrested by BCSO last week, and 36 were arrested by law enforcement agencies other than BCSO and were turned over to Bowie County. We hope everyone had a safe and happy July 4th weekend. The week leading up to our nation's birthday was a little slower than what you usually see here, which is a good thing, but along with the usual assaults and such, there were a couple of items that stood out. Two child pornography possession cases and one Exploitation of the Elderly, both of which are completely intolerable in our opinion.

I don't know if it's the hot temperatures or just hot-headed people but there was at least one assault logged in Bowie County every day last week and some of those folks ended up in jail.
