The Texarkana Dragon Boat Race Festival is almost here. This is a fun event and it's for a great cause as it benefits HandsOn Texarkana and is presented by CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.

If there is one thing we've learned over the past year it's to not take our health for granted. It's the Community Healthcore Drive Thru Healthfair tomorrow, this Friday, June 11 from 9AM to noon in the parking lot at 1401 Richmond Road in Texarkana Texas and it's free.

Texarkana's official vaccination hub at Christus St Michael Health System will be hosting another vaccination clinic this Saturday, May 1 at CSM in Texarkana, Texas.

CHRISTUS St. Michael was designated by the State of Texas to serve the Texarkana area region as a vaccine hub and is working in partnership with Bowie County, the City of Texarkana, TX, the Emergency Operations Center, Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Texarkana College to provide vaccinations. They will be hosting the next vaccine clinic this Saturday, March 6.

Stroke is becoming more common in the United States, and recent statistics reveal that close to 3-percent of the population has had one. Unfortunately, incidences of stroke, along with cancer and heart disease, are leading causes of mortality across the nation but more so in the region including Texarkana and surrounding counties.

As part of their ongoing efforts for National Heart Month, the American Heart Association, in conjunction with the San Angelo Community Medical Center and CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, work together to raise awareness about congenital heart defects and heart disease through the Little Hats, Big Hearts Program, which provides handmade red hats to newborns.
