Stamp Out Hunger

It's back, your letter carriers have made it possible once again to easily donate non-perishable food items on Stamp Out Hunger day. Mark it on your calendar, put it in your phone memos but whatever you do, don't forget this date, Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Tomorrow is the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) 23rd annual "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive. The food drive takes place in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America and is an effort to raise national awareness about the real, ongoing problem of hunger in every community.

Please join us tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6 at 9 a.m. to kick off the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. The kick-off is at the Oaklawn Post Office located at 2211 N. Robinson Rd. in Texarkana. Everyone is asked to bring a bag of food and help officially kick off the event with Mayors Bob Bruggeman and Wayne Smith as they proclaim May 10 as the official Stamp Out Hunger Day.

The Stamp Out Hunger annual food drive is more important than ever. According to Jill Whittington, Executive Director for Harvest Texarkana, 20 percent of the population in our area struggles to feed themselves (compared to 15 percent nationally).
