The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is urging owners of hooved animals to closely monitor their animals and comply with all animal movement restrictions issued in response to the recently confirmed finding of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) infection in three horses on a premise in Benton County, Arkansas.

Could this be the end of the world? No, but a vial containing a virus that can cause "hemmorhagic fever" has gone missing from a research lab in Galveston Texas.

An Academy of Pediatrics report out this week should help a few of us parents rest a little easier the next time one of our kids has a fever.  According to this ap article, fever is our body's way of fighting off infection  and the most important reason to give our kids fever fighting medicine is to help our kids stay comfortable, not to try to  "getting the fever down".
