Texarkana Police K9 Teams Win Big at National Level
A big congratulations to our Texarkana Texas Police Department's K9 unit teams. They showed their excellence at the national level last week and won some big awards.
Back in May, both of the TTPD K9 teams did great in the regional trials that were held here in Texarkana. The canines and their handlers competed against 24 other teams. They did so well that they advanced to the national trials.
Officer Aaron Lewis and his partner Absurd and Officer Cole Bredenberg and his partner Thor competed in narcotics and explosives detection to receive national certification in detection work over two days.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department announced on their Facebook page,
We are extremely proud to share with you guys that our two canine teams won first place as a department on the national level last week at the National Detector Dog Field Trials, which included teams from state and federal agencies from across the country - including the New York Police Department and the CIA.
Officer Bredenberg and Thor placed seventh in the individual scores and fourth in vehicle detection.
This is a fantastic achievement as these officers and their canine partners work hard and train hard as they serve and protect the community. The TTPD stated they were proud the teams had the opportunity to show their hard work and skills to other police forces nationwide.
Congratulations to both of these extraordinary K9 teams. If you see them out and about town be sure to say a big congratulations for a job well done and the awards so well deserved.
