
$20K Painting Commission for Arkansas Artist
The Arkansas250 Commission, along with the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, and the Arkansas Arts Council, is seeking a commissioned artwork to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. This special piece will serve as a lasting tribute to Arkansas’ history and contributions to the nation.
A Lasting Tribute to Arkansas History
The project is open to Arkansas artists who are 18 or older, and the final piece will be purchased for $20,000. The commissioned artwork will be displayed at Division of Arkansas Heritage museums and the Arkansas State Capitol.

"Art has always been one of the most powerful ways to tell a story, and this commissioned piece will help capture Arkansas’ role in America’s journey," said Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism and Chair of the Arkansas250 Commission.
Key Details for Applicants
- Artwork Requirements: The piece must be an acrylic or oil painting on a 36” x 48” wood-supported canvas, created in a realistic style.
- Artist Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have been Arkansas residents for at least one year.
- Submission Deadline: All proposals are due by November 1, 2025.
- Final Artwork Due: The completed piece will be due by March 1, 2026.
The commissioned artwork is part of a statewide celebration that includes historic markers, flags, and a multi-museum exhibit.
