John Hogue Named Arkansas’ New State Fire Marshal

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) has appointed John Hogue as the state’s new Fire Marshal.

Bringing Vast Experience

Hogue brings 32 years of experience in fire, explosion, and hazardous materials investigations, as well as extensive experience in law enforcement, fire prevention, and emergency response.

“John’s depth of experience and proven leadership in complex fire and explosive investigations make him an outstanding choice for State Fire Marshal,” ADEM Director AJ Gary said. “His commitment to public safety, professionalism, and interagency coordination reflects exactly what this role requires to best serve Arkansans.”

Hogue is a certified fire and explosion investigator and licensed private investigator. During his career, he has worked as a fire investigator, law enforcement officer, fire code inspector, plans reviewer, Urban Search and Rescue technician, hazardous materials technician, fire captain, and EMT. He has also served as a member of a bomb squad.

Hogue has also conducted more than 1,500 fire and explosive investigations across the United States.

Extensive Training and Certifications

Hogue has completed advanced training in fire and explosive investigations and has taught courses for the Arkansas Fire Academy and local EMT associations.

His professional certifications include:

• Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator
• Certified Evidence Collection Technician
• Fire Investigator Technician
• Certified Post Blast Technician through the FBI

Hogue will begin transitioning into the State Fire Marshal position immediately. The transition is intended to provide continuity in Arkansas' statewide fire prevention, investigation, and public safety operations.
