The Arkansas State Police have made another big drug bust as they stop someone for a normal traffic violation.

This latest drug bust took place on Thursday, February 20 at approximately 12:30 PM.

Arkansas State Police trooper (ASP) stopped a 2018 tractor-trailer that was heading in the eastbound lane on Interstate 40 in Crawford County.

The troopers ended up searching the trailer and low and behold that is when they found a lot of drugs. How big was this bust? 1,705 pounds! It was all illegal marijuana and it was all located in 42 boxes and a large duffel bag.

The driver, 48-year-old Dawit Asefa from Silver Spring, Maryland. He was with a passenger in the vehicle 39-year-old Ashenafi Mamo, 39 from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Needless to say, they were both arrested and brought to the Crawford County Detention Center and booked.

Both of these men are now facing felony charges of allegedly Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Arkansas State Police mean business and this is just one of some many drug deliveries through Arkansas that never made their destination.
