Chances are that you have had Biscuits and Gravy at least once in your life. Whether early in your morning at your grandmother’s house or late at night to cure what is sure to become a massive hangover, Biscuits and Gravy are one of those tried and true recipes that you just can’t go wrong with.

There is just one problem: It’s a dish that can get awfully messy, awfully quick.

So, of course, we have a solution.

Actually, our friends at Delish.com have come up with a solution via their Biscuits ‘N Gravy Bombs recipe. Just in time for National Biscuit Day on Wednesday (May 29), Delish has come up with a way of stuffing all of that sausage and gravy goodness into a neat little biscuit that you can literally pick up with your fingers and bite into.

But don’t put your napkin away quite yet. A little mess is still possible whenever you partake in any sort of Biscuits ‘N Gravy. Luckily, it will all be worth it with this delicious recipe.

Let’s just say your taste buds will thank you.

Biscuits 'N Gravy Bombs Recipe:

Ingredients

1 tsp. vegetable oil
1/2 lb. Italian sausage
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. whole milk
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Cayenne pepper
1 can refrigerated biscuits (such as Pillsbury)
Egg wash, for brushing
Chopped fresh chives, for sprinkling

Directions

Preheat oven to 375º and spray a baking dish with cooking spray. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking up with the back of a spoon, until no longer pink. Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir to combine. Pour over milk and bring to a simmer. Season with salt, pepper and cayenne and cook until thick, three minutes. Set aside.

Flatten each biscuit round about 1/4” thickness. Top each round with sausage gravy. Bring edges of dough together and pinch to seal. Place in prepared baking dish seam-side-down. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with chives and a pinch more of cayenne. Bake until biscuits are nicely golden, 22 to 24 minutes. Serve warm.
