An earthquake was recorded this morning in East Texas close to the Northwest Louisiana line. Did you feel it? The USGS recorded the earthquake at approximately 6:15 AM on Thursday, December 19.
The 3.3 magnitude earthquake was located just southeast of Uncertain, Texas. Did you feel it?
It seems pretty rare to have an earthquake in east Texas. We've heard about earthquakes in West Texas and even in the Dallas area.
Taking a Look at Some of the strongest Earthquakes in Texas
The strongest earthquake in Texas history was in 1931 which happened in Valentine, Texas in West Texas. It had an estimated magnitude of 5.6–6.4. The second strongest earthquake in Texas history also took place in West Texas close to Alpine Texas. This one registered at a magnitude 5.7 in 1995. It could be felt as far as Dallas and San Antonio.
