Firefighter Five Foundation founder, Steven Bender, will be participating in the 17th Annual Little Rock Marathon this Sunday, March 3, 2019, in full firefighter turnout gear.

Mr. Bender is no stranger to completing distance runs in gear completing over 15 marathons donned in his turnout gear to promote the Firefighter Five Foundation. The foundation was created to raise awareness of PTSD, PTSI and the issues faced with today’s first responders. This race is part of Mr. Benders pledge to complete a full marathon in gear in each of the 50 states.

The Firefighter Five Foundation is a certified 501c3, Delaware nonprofit corporation dedicated to assisting first responders develop and maintain a healthy mental lifestyle. Founded in April of 2013, the foundation has assisted first responders from all across the country. The foundation relies solely on donations to meet its goals.

The name Firefighter Five Foundation originated in recognition of the weekly average of five first responder suicides each year.
