Hardy is putting down his own take on the hit song he had a hand in writing, Blake Shelton's "God's Country."

Hardy — best known as the songwriter behind several modern tracks, including "Simple" and "Talk You Out of It" by Florida Georgia Line — makes "God's Country" his own with a fiery acoustic rendition. While the bell chimes and booming claps in Shelton's version are eliminated, Hardy maintains the song's integrity with his gritty vocals that captures the intensity of the lyrics.

Sitting against a black backdrop, the singer-songwriter puts his heart and soul into the performance. "Saved by the sound of the been found / Dixie whistled in the wind, that'll get you Heaven bound / The Devil went down to Georgia, but he didn't stick around / This is God's country," he sings with power.

Hardy co-wrote "God's Country" with "All on Me" singer Devin Dawson and Jordan Schmidt, with Dawson also releasing a powerful acoustic cover of the stormy track.

The song skyrocketed to the top of the country charts in July 2019, making it Shelton's 26th No. 1 hit. Shelton was working on his farm in Oklahoma when he heard the demo for "God's Country" and knew he had to cut it.

"I stopped and I called [producer] Scott [Hendricks] and I go, 'Man, I don't know who or where that song came from, but that's literally the kind of song that makes me want to make another record," he says, "That reignites my excitement for, not for country music, but for what I do in country music.'"
