New Documentary Explores Hemingway’s Life and Arkansas Connections

Did you know that Hemingway has a big connection to Arkansas? A new documentary series will take a closer look at the life of the legendary author Ernest Hemingway and his connection to the Natural State on Arkansas TV later this month.

'Hemingway' is a three-part, six-hour documentary from filmmakers Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein. It will premiere Monday, August 31, at 8 PM on Arkansas TV. It will also stream live on Arkansas TV Live. The other episodes will air on September 7 and September 14 at 8 PM.

The series explores Hemingway’s career, his influence on literature and the personal struggles that shaped his life. Narrated by Peter Coyote, the documentary features actor Jeff Daniels as the voice of Hemingway, along with an all-star cast portraying the people closest to him.

The documentary also highlights Hemingway’s connection to Arkansas. During his 13-year marriage to Pauline Pfeiffer, Pauline's family lived in Piggott, and Hemingway spent a lot of time in Northeast Arkansas, where he wrote portions of his classic novel A Farewell to Arms while staying at the family home.
