Ready for Growth: Hope Earns Elite State Designation for Economic Readiness
A big Congratulations to our friends in Hope. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) announced last week that the City of Hope has officially completed the state’s Competitive Communities Initiative (CCI), earning a designation that highlights the city’s readiness for future economic growth.

State and local leaders gathered in Hope on Thursday, December 18, to celebrate the milestone. During the event, AEDC officials presented the community with a plaque recognizing this wonderful achievement.
What the Designation Means
Hope is now the 10th community in Arkansas to receive the CCI designation. According to a press release, the program helps cities evaluate how prepared they are to attract new businesses and job-creating projects by focusing on workforce readiness, economic development, funding, and site preparedness.

The goal is simple, make sure communities are competitive and ready when new opportunities come around.
Leaders Applaud Hope’s Progress
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Hope’s strong workforce and industrial base, and that growth across Arkansas depends on rural and smaller communities being just as prepared as the larger cities.
Hope has a strong industrial base and a workforce ready to grow, and today’s Competitive Communities Initiative designation recognizes that strength and positions the city to compete for what’s next.
AEDC Executive Director Clint O’Neal also congratulated local leaders, saying the designation shows Hope has put in the work and is ready to compete for new investment and jobs.
Local Efforts Recognized
Anna Lee Powell, president of Hempstead County Economic Development, called the designation a validation of decades of work in the community. She highlighted continued collaboration between public and private partners, workforce development, and significant reinvestment throughout the county.
Looking Ahead
Through the CCI process, communities receive third-party evaluations and guidance to help identify strengths, address gaps, and improve long-term economic success.
