Jennifer Nettles is focused on music (she just released a new solo single, "I Can Do Hard Things," in addition to her work with Sugarland), but she would be willing to take on some acting roles, too.

"I grew up doing theater. And I did it all through school and all through college and it has been something and a place and a home to which I had wanted to return for quite a while," the singer shares in an interview with her record label.

Nettles was also in the Broadway musical Chicago and starred as Dolly Parton's mother in the Coat of Many Colors TV movies in 2015 and 2016. Now involved with her country duo Sugarland again after a hiatus, she explains that she just hasn't been able to balance acting with her first passion: music.

"Fortunately, my music career was so successful that it required much of my time and focus. And then of course once I went solo and was allowing myself a different journey and allowing myself to be opened to new things and sort of outside of my comfort zone, I dipped back into those waters," Nettles says.

She credits music for giving her more opportunities in the acting realm.

"I am blown away constantly that the success that I’ve had as a musician has allowed me re-entree into the acting world at such a level," she admits. "I’m pretty blown away by that, but acting, in general, is something that I had done off and on throughout my life, just never professionally until now."

We're sure Nettles can juggle acting, solo music and Sugarland music and be successful at all three. The duo released a new album, Bigger, in 2018.
