However you may feel about Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" and the controversy over what songs belong on which charts, one thing's for certain: Most kids want to hear fun music and don't care about made-up genres.

For conclusive video evidence, watch as the Josh Abbott Band's namesake gives in to playground peer pressure and performs the song for the students at Bee Cave Elementary.

"Sometimes, you just give the people (kids) what they want!!! When I heard they REALLY wanted to hear this song today, I had to play it," Abbott writes on Facebook. "THANK YOU Bee Cave Elementary for having @ptonew & I come play and talk about music on career day."

Screaming, singing and flossing ensued once Abbott and guitarist Preston Wait launched into a twangy rendition of the viral trap/country sensation. It wasn't the first time a country act offered up their own version of the track: Billy Ray Cyrus has jumped on a remix of the song, and Keith Urban recently posted a cover of "Old Town Road" on social media.

Lil Nas X's breakthrough song debuted on -- and was promptly removed from -- the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It currently sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a third consecutive week.

As for the Josh Abbott Band, the group is currently at work on new music, following 2017's Until My Voice Goes Out. In personal news, Abbott got married to Taylor Parnell in 2018, and subsequently shared the song he wrote for his new bride on the morning of their wedding.
