Lady Antebellum Spoof Sam Hunt’s ‘Body Like a Back Road’ in ‘Party in a Bathrobe’ Video [Watch]
Sam Hunt probably never envisioned the words "poo-poo" and "tee-tee" ever being part of the lyrics for his hit "Body Like a Back Road," but a spoof by Lady Antebellum added all that and more.
In a music video the band dubs "Party in a Bathrobe," Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady A are seen jamming to the backing track of the Hunt smash — in bathrobes — while adding their own lyrics about the bathrobe life. In fact, #2Blessed2bDressed and #ROBElife appear to be the official hashtags for the country comedy masterpiece.
Though Kelley drops lines such as "Somebody gotta go poo-poo" and "I don't need underwear," the song still urges a singalong, proving the melodies in this ditty are so good, you can literally sing anything to it and it'd still be a hit. And of course, the chorus is all about breakfast, which makes sense.
Lady Antebellum + More Tell Terrible Dad Jokes
"Party in a bathrobe / Double cappuccino / I know this espresso like the back of hand / Throw a dozen on the griddle / Runny in the middle / Butter up my toast with some strawberry jam."
"Body Like a Back Road" recently peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard all-genre Hot 100 chart and is also the fastest country song in history to reach 100 million total streams (10 weeks). It’s worth noting that Florida Georgia Line‘s “Cruise” — which is the best-selling country digital single of all time — peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Though "Party in a Bathrobe," probably won't top the charts for Lady A, the band will continue their string of non-comedic success with the second half of the You Look Good Tour through the rest of summer and early fall, which should give them plenty of time to live the #ROBElife.
