Giant Bugs Take Over the Little Rock Zoo for “Bugtopia! Wonder Magnified!”
Start making your plans to take the kids to the Little Rock Zoo in Little Rock, Arkansas, to have a chance to see insects in a whole new way when the interactive exhibit “Bugtopia! Wonder Magnified!” opens just in time for spring break.
The special exhibit will run March 21 through September 20, transforming parts of the zoo into a larger-than-life world of insects. Zoo members will get an early look during an exclusive preview night on March 20 from 5 to 7 PM.
Larger-Than-Life Insect Experience
Bugtopia! features 21 oversized insect sculptures, including both climbable structures and animatronic displays. You'll see up close massive versions of familiar bugs, such as:
- A 15-foot-tall praying mantis
- An 8-foot-long monarch butterfly
- A 12-foot jumping stick insect
- A 6-foot-long climbable caterpillar
The exhibit is designed to give visitors a closer look at the fascinating world of insects that often goes unnoticed beneath our feet.
Learning About the Importance of Insects
Educators from the zoo’s Conservation Learning and Engagement team will lead interactive learning activities throughout the exhibit. The program highlights the important role insects play in ecosystems, including pollination and environmental balance.
