Maren Morris’ Baby Boy Gives a Hello in Sonogram Video: ‘It Was Like He Waved Good Luck’
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's baby boy may have wished his mom good luck ahead of Wednesday night's 2019 CMA Awards. Morris is the most-nominated artist going into the show, with six nods.
"I got a wave today," Morris writes in sharing a sonogram video to social media. The footage was captured during an ultrasound earlier this week.
"The last time that we saw him on an ultrasound, he was like the size of a peanut, so now that he's, like — we're halfway to my due date — it just feels way more real in a physical sense," the "Girl" hitmaker told Taste of Country Nights backstage on Tuesday (Nov. 12).
"It was almost like he waved at me good luck," Morris furthers. "It choked us up because it was like, oh my god, he's actually moving in there ... it's a person, and we're just so excited to meet him."
The couple's son — their first child — is due in March.
When they announced their pregnancy last month, Morris found irony in the fact that she's having a boy. "The irony is just too rich that after a year of living in the Girl headspace, the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out," she wrote in her Instagram announcement. "See you in 2020, little one."
Hurd took a slightly different approach when he revealed that the couple was expecting on his Instagram, saying: "MY BOYS CAN SWIM. BABY BOY HURD 2020!" The "To a T" singer also celebrated his 33rd birthday on Nov. 2, and his wife joked that it will be the last "quiet" one he will have for awhile.
Morris is staying busy until baby — she will join her fellow the Highwomen group members (Natalie Hemby, Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires) for an all-star female performance that will include Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson at the CMA Awards on Nov. 13.
The CMAs air at 8PM ET on ABC. Morris is nominated for Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year with Brothers Osborne and Music Video of the Year.
