No More Roosters Allowed Within City Limits in Arkansas Town
The 2025 new year has finally arrived and there will be no more cock-a- doodle do's allowed in Van Buren Arkansas.

As of December 30, 2024, the city council of Van Buren voted overwhelmingly to amend the city code to ban roosters, chickens, turkeys, and any other fowl from roaming the streets freely within the city limits. Acting on a recommendation from the Planning Commission the city council held a public meeting to hear complaints about the nuisance the roosters have been causing the community.

According to a report from KNWA, under a new revised section of the municipal code 6.08.05 which prohibits keeping roosters within the city limits.
Fowl Play
The City of Van Buren now joins other Arkansas cities like Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and Rogers that prohibit roosters in the city limits. If an individual is caught breaking this new city ordinance a fine could be issued to the person or persons involved.
