Hear RaeLynn’s Vulnerable New Song About a Real-Life Lost Friendship
Always keeping her heart open, RaeLynn has revealed a new song that she wrote about a friendship that burned out.
RaeLynn's living room becomes a recording studio when she sits at the piano, feeling her way through a somber song that reflects her emotions after the end of a relationship with a friend. There's pain that comes when someone close to you builds a wall in between you, and hers is obvious.
"That is the trouble with knowing someone a little too well, little too well, that is the trouble with knowing someone, they'll forget you in heaven, but call you from hell, and I'm haunted by the way I wish it was, that is the trouble," she sings emotionally over the piano melody.
She shared the performance with the public via Instagram, explaining that she wrote the song — which she didn't name — about losing a friendship "that was very dear to me."
The Voice Moments We'll Never Forget
"Sometimes when you know someone a little too well they push you away ... and that is the trouble of knowing someone a little too well," RaeLynn. She co-wrote the song with hit songwriters Barry Dean and Natalie Hemby.
No word if she will record an official version of the track. But the former The Voice contestant did release a new single in the form of the danceable "Tailgate" in July — a song she wrote with Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, Canaan Smith and Corey Crowder.
Next up for RaeLynn is supporting Kane Brown on the Live Forever Tour. His first-ever arena-headlining tour kicks off Jan. 10 and continues through early March. Granger Smith, "Best Shot" newcomer Jimmie Allen and fellow Voice star Danielle Bradbery will also open shows.
