Ravens Lose Joe Flacco, But Rout Dolphins, 40-0
Alex Collins ran for 113 yards, and the Baltimore Ravens routed the Miami Dolphins, 40-0, on Thursday night despite losing quarterback Joe Flacco on a hit to the head from Miami linebacker Kiko Alonso.
Flacco completed 10 of 15 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game late in the first half after Alonso's vicious hit. The nasty collision, which was penalized, caused the quarterback's helmet to come off. Flacco staggered off the field with a cut on his face. He was placed in the league's concussion protocol after the game.
Ryan Mallett replaced Flacco, throwing for just 20 yards with a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ben Watson. Collins shouldered the offensive load for Baltimore (4-4).
Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore, who started in place of the injured Jay Cutler, threw for 176 yards with two interceptions -- both of which were returned for touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Miami (4-3) managed just 196 yards of offense in the game.
