Reba McEntire’s Dad Clark to Be Posthumously Honored in the ‘Hall of Great Westerners’
Reba McEntire's father, Clark McEntire, is set to be inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City on Saturday (April 13).
The country star's sister, celebrated Christian artist Susie McEntire-Eaton, will sing the National Anthem at the ceremony, and all of the McEntire siblings will be there, along with their mother, Jackie.
A professional roper with championships in 1957, 1958 and 1961, Clark McEntire already holds at least one spot in the museum as a member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. He died in 2014 at the age of 86.
Most Unforgettable Reba Moments
Speaking to the Tulsa World, McEntire-Eaton says the evening is a huge honor for the entire family. "It's going to be a really, really huge night for our whole family," she says.
McEntire-Eaton attributes much of her and her siblings' musical talents to long road trips with their parents, who would teach them how to harmonize in a crammed back seat. She, along with sister Reba and brother Pake, would go on to have professional singing career.
Reba has always been a proud Oklahoman — a trait she no doubt inherited from her father, who along with the rest of the family slowly accrued about 8,000 acres worth of land in the region. Clark built ponds on the land, treating it with great care.
"He is perfect for the Hall of Great Westerners," McEntire-Eaton tells the Tulsa World.
The 2019 class of inductees includes Kevin Costner and Howard Keel (Hall of Great Western Performers), McEntire and cowboy historian George McJunkin (Hall of Great Westerners), Michael Martin Murphy (Lifetime Achievement Award) and entertainer Dave Stamey (Chester A. Reynolds Memorial Award).
