Suspect Arrested in Domestic Dispute in Texarkana
Officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance in the 3000 block of Grand Avenue yesterday evening Oct. 10, at approximately 5:38 PM.
Eyewitness Accounts
After officers arrived at the scene, witnesses told police that the suspect 42-year-old Larry Jefferson had left the area in a gray SUV and was last seen driving south on Grand Avenue.
According to a press release, Officers spoke with a male friend of the victim who advised that the victim was at his residence visiting when Jefferson arrived and stated he was looking for his ex-girlfriend. According to witness accounts, Jefferson left briefly and returned with a black and gray handgun, which he pointed at the victim’s friend. Jefferson then turned the gun on the victim and made her get into his vehicle. Jefferson then drove away southbound on Grand Avenue. While on the scene, Officers located a cell phone in the grass and discovered it belonged to the suspect.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father advised officers that he was tracking his daughter’s phone, and it showed that she was close to the airport and that he was en route to that area. He further stated that the victim had called him from another phone and advised that the suspect had let her out close to the airport. He was able to respond to the area and locate his daughter safely. The victim had advised that the suspect jumped into a gold-colored Chevrolet pickup truck with another male, and they were driving around the area and had shot at her as she was walking.
Arrest Made
Officers continued to look for the suspect and located Jefferson in a gold-colored Chevrolet pickup in the parking lot of the Orleans Apartments at 2400 East 24th Street. Jefferson was arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, Aggravated Assault, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle – 2nd Degree.
