Summer has arrived and so have the cicadas we have been hearing about for months. June and July are typically the months that Arkansans get serenaded by the loudest insect in the world.
This is the first day of May meaning that trillions of cicadas will begin invading this part of the South including Arkansas. later this month. Are you ready for the loud noise that these insects will bring when they show up in droves?
Now that the solar eclipse is done what is next? How about an invasion of trillions of cicadas in the United States? Arkansas is expected to get hit hard beginning in the middle of May when they start to emerge from the ground, shedding their exoskeleton shell-like skin behind.
Most bugs don't bother me that much, but these give me the willies, maybe it's because they're so big, maybe it's because they're so loud, but all I know is when they scream a lot of us do too. I'm talking about the dreaded cicada, and this year there will be more than we have ever seen in our lives emerging all at once. Joy!
